The Forum of Participation Practitioners is back!
The Forum of Participation Practitioners is back! It’s time for a new reality of civic engagement
The Association for Communities Participatory Development is relaunching a key platform for civil society — the Forum “Civic Participation: A New Reality”!
The previous two forums became important milestones in promoting a culture of participation in Ukraine. The last one took place in 2021 — before the full-scale invasion. Today, as the country lives through war and recovery, we once again need a space for dialogue, shared solutions, and inspiration. How can we ensure people’s participation in recovery processes? How can we preserve participatory mechanisms under new realities? These questions will be at the heart of this year’s Forum.
Initiative and Partners:
The Forum is organized by the Association for Communities Participatory Development, with the support of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and in partnership with the Union of Public Initiatives of Ukraine. The event will take place in November 2025 and will serve as an open platform for representatives of communities, public authorities, international organizations, and active citizens.
First steps towards preparing the Forum
On September 26 in Kyiv, we brought together potential Forum partners — representatives of international institutions, participation practitioners, and civil society organizations. During the meeting, we:
- Discussed the main challenges facing civic participation today.
- Developed a list of topics and ideas that will form the basis of the Forum program.
- Identified partners ready to support and contribute to the Forum.
Key Forum Topics
- The role of participation in Ukraine’s post-war recovery and sustainable development.
- New formats of cooperation between communities and international donors.
- Inclusion of veterans, IDPs, and other underrepresented groups in decision-making processes.
The Forum is on its way! Our shared goal is to strengthen the voice of civil society and create opportunities for everyone to participate.
Stay tuned — we’ll soon share more details about the program and registration.
