Forum “Civic Participation: A New Reality”
On November 20–21, 2025, the Forum “Civic Participation: A New Reality” will take place in Kyiv. The event is organized by the Association for Communities Participatory Development together with the Union “Civic Initiatives of Ukraine”, with the support of a number of international donors and partners.
The Forum aims to strengthen local democracy and support Ukraine’s democratic recovery. Its key goal is to expand opportunities for inclusive citizen participation in local decision-making processes.
Participants will include leading experts in civic engagement, representatives of donor organizations, and local practitioners of participatory democracy. Around 150 guests are expected to attend.
What to expect at the Forum?
- Interactive discussions and workshops
- Exchange of experiences with colleagues from across Ukraine
- Networking and joint problem-solving
- Analysis of successful cases and exploration of new opportunities
After a pause caused by the full-scale war, we are renewing a broad dialogue on civic participation. This is especially important now, as during the country’s reconstruction it is critically necessary to ensure transparency, accountability, and direct involvement of citizens in decision-making. The effectiveness and legitimacy of all recovery processes depend on this.
Leonid Donos, Executive director of the Association for Communities Participatory Development
The Forum program was developed in the most inclusive way possible. We began with a survey of participation practitioners and then gathered community representatives to select the most relevant topics to be addressed during the Forum.
Pavlo Pushchenko, Executive Director of the Union “Civic Initiatives of Ukraine"
Panel discussions, workshops, and parallel sessions will cover a wide range of topics — from value-based and legislative changes in the field during the years of full-scale war to practical approaches for engaging diverse target groups.
Invited participants include:
- Representatives of local self-government bodies responsible for citizen engagement
- Сivic activists and participation experts
- Representatives of non-governmental organizations
- International partners
Pre-registration is now open! The number of seats is limited, so we encourage you to complete the registration form as soon as possible.https://forms.gle/scM6WPDMTkw1YR228
